Alleged Homosexuality:"Fr Mario Remanded In Correctional Center.

An Owerri magestarate court, last week, Friday, remanded "Fr. Mario Justus Chinonso Alozie" in  custody over allegations of homosexuality, but the case was adjourned to Wednesday, February 5,2025 , for consideration of his bail.

"Fr.Mario"was arraigned before the magistrate presided by His Worship Doris Chukwuezi Ahanonu, on charges of -unnatural offence, contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code; indecent treatment of boys under fourteen, contrary to section 216 of the Criminal Code and unlawful sexual interaction with a child, contrary to section 31, Child Rights Act,all related to homosexuality. However, the court ruled that  it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody until the issue of considering his bail is resolved.

The court haven admitted the casefile  in evidence  and the submissions of both the appellant and defense counsel , subsequently adjourned the matter to Wednesday, February 5, for consideration of the bail. 

"Fr Mario"will remain in custody until the court makes a ruling on the matter.

It would be recalled that the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara,in a disclaimer,dated September 26,2024, signed by Rev.Fr.Augustine Ukawuba, Assistant Secretary/Chancellor, and made Valable to pressmen ,stated that he is not a priest of the diocese.

In the same vien, the Old Catholic Apostolic Church-Nigeria provience, replying to the disclaimer of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara,dated September 28, signed by Very  Rev.Fr.Julius Abiodun Adeyeye, equally made available to the media stated that the defendant was ex- communicated by OCAC, since 2021, adding,"we disassociate ourselves from any form of immorality, misconducts and activities that are in defiance of God 's words, Apostolic traditions, good conscience and OCAC cannons and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria "

  Indigenes of Umuihugba/Umuodu in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area of Imo State have formerly handed over a Site Project to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the installation of 229 Solar Powered Streetlights in the community. The Solar Powered Streetlights project was attracted by the APC candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2023 election, Hon. CDB Williams.  The contracting firm handling the project is Cascade Engineering Systems Limited based in Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
