Imo-Born Zeta-Web Nigeria MD, Chris Anaelechi Obasi, Allegedly Abducted in Lagos**

The Managing Director of Zeta-Web Nigeria and prominent figure in the ongoing Ezeship dispute in Eziama Ikeduru Autonomous Community, Imo State, Mr. Chris Anaelechi Obasi, has been reportedly abducted from his Lagos residence.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 8 PM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, has thrown his family and associates into turmoil.

Mr. Obasi was allegedly taken to an unknown location by unidentified persons from his home in Ajah, Lagos State.

According to a statement issued by the family, the timing of the abduction is suspicious, as it comes just two days before the scheduled court hearing of the protracted Kingship case involving Eziama Ikeduru, set for Friday, May 16, 2025.

Family members who spoke  on the condition of anonymity suspect foul play linked to the Kingship tussle.

They claim that certain opponents, who have persistently opposed the Imo State Government’s recognition of Mr. Obasi as the rightful Eze of the community, may have orchestrated the abduction.

“It is no secret that some factions within the community have gone to great lengths to prevent Mr. Chris Obasi from ascending the throne, despite being the direct heir following the death of his father, H.R.H. Eze C.A. Obasi Oparaugo (Ekwueme Orji 1 of Eziama Ikeduru),” a family source disclosed.

Supporters of Mr. Obasi within Eziama Ikeduru insist that he is the legitimate successor, being the only son of the late traditional ruler.

They believe that his opponents, intent on imposing their preferred candidate, have consistently undermined efforts to uphold traditional succession processes, culminating in this tragic incident.

Before his tenure as the Managing Director of Zeta-Web Nigeria, Mr. Obasi served as the General Manager of Information Technology and Facilities at Multichoice Nigeria.

His appointment as MD in July 2018 marked a significant milestone in his professional career.

The family has called for calm while urging security agencies to expedite investigations to secure his safe return.

“We are appealing to anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and inform the relevant authorities,” the family pleaded in their statement.

Community members of Eziama Ikeduru have also expressed their dismay, describing the abduction as a grave injustice and a dangerous escalation in the ongoing dispute.
