Governor Obaseki Moves The Deputy's Office To A Deserted Building
Following the alleged evacuation of the deputy's office from the state Government House by Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki, the conflict between Obaseki and his deputy Comrade Philip Shaibu is reportedly getting messier by the day.
It was learned that the deputy governor's office, which was previously housed in Government House in Benin, had been transferred to a state-owned structure that was allegedly abandoned along Dennis Osadebey in GRA, Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
According to reports, Philip Shaibu's contentious new office is now located at No. 7 Dennis Osadebey Avenue, with a noticeable marker installed in front of the structure.
When reached, Comrade Musa Ebomhiana, Shaibu's chief press secretary, stated that he had not yet received a formal communication to that effect.
"I don't know how accurate that is, but I still consider it to be a rumor. I haven't received any official information, and I don't trust rumors more than I do facts.
We are in Edo North for the election (local government council election) this weekend.
And we intend to continue on Monday when the situation will be more clear. We are currently holding elections in Edo North, and I don't want to comment on them since I don't know enough about them to do so. I have read about it and it is on social media," he remarked.
Remember that Comrade Shaibu recently petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja for an order barring Governor Obaseki, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of Edo State, and others from starting his purported impeachment proceedings.
Political watchers claim that this situation resulted in Mrs. Sabina Chikere, the deputy governor's sister-in-law and permanent secretary of the state sports commission, being transferred to the state government house.
Before being recently disbanded by Governor Obaseki, the deputy governor's press team was dispatched from the Midwest Referendum location in Benin, which was hosting a 60th anniversary celebration.
Additionally, during a recent event in Benin, a security detail assigned to the governor forbade the deputy governor from getting too close to his principal Obaseki.
