News Flash: A New Minimum Wage age Will Be Announced By Tinubu Next Week.
President Bola Tinubu will unveil a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers next week, barring any unforeseen adjustments.
Comrade Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), revealed this while discussing the outcomes of the union's meeting with the federal government on Tuesday on the removal of fuel subsidies.
According to theglobalnewsupdates, the TUC has given the federal government a two-week deadline to respond to its requests or face potential strike action from employees all over the nation.
Speaking on Tuesday night, Osifo mentioned that Simon Lalong, the minister of labor, had informed them he had met with Wale Edun, the minister of finance, and President Tinubu.
President Tinubu would comment on the subject in the upcoming days, according to Osifo, who claimed that Lalong informed the union that the wage problem had been reviewed.
"The minister of labor informed us that he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the minister of finance to discuss the salary award issue. But before he makes the statement, the president urged them to polish the concerns, the TUC president stated.
The minister assured us that all of these problems will be resolved quickly, but since the president has been traveling, we should allow him two extra weeks. We refused since we couldn't give an extra two weeks. He stated that the president would make an appropriate declaration the following week after more debate.
Osifo pointed out that the union has spoken with the federal government about the painkillers distributed to states.
"We'll keep an eye on how palliative medications are distributed across the states to make sure the plan is carried out properly. We contacted the federal government about this because we wanted to see the blueprint for the implementation. The TUC president continued, "We also discussed taxation and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) issues.
