The Commissioner Of Bauchi Warns Employees About Tardiness And Absences
Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo, the health commissioner for Bauchi, has issued a warning that he will not accept tardiness or absenteeism at work, particularly in the healthcare industry.
After paying an impromptu visit to various Primary Healthcare Centers in the District over the weekend, he revealed this during an unexpected visit to Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, the District Head of Lame in Toro LGA, at his palace in Gumau.
Adamu Sambo, who traveled throughout the Lame district to evaluate the third cycle of the delivery of anti-malarial medications, used the opportunity to visit the Geljaule, Gumau, Rishi, Zalau, and Rahama Primary Health Care Centers and to gauge the attendance of staff members during the weekend.
The Commissioner stated that he encountered fewer than 2 personnel in each of the PHCCs he visited, expressing his displeasure with the district head over the low worker turnout.
Additionally, he stated that the majority of them were volunteers and not employees and that the Bala Muhammad-led administration would not tolerate such a despicable conduct in the state while pledging to punish those responsible.
He said, "I am quite angry with what I seen today in our facilities throughout the District. I encountered less than 2 employees at each facility I visited, and the majority of them were volunteers rather than staff members in most of the sites I went.
Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir's administration "will not take this intolerable act for granted, and we will definitely sanction the offenders," he insisted.
The Bala Muhammad administration, according to Adamu Sambo, is dedicated to putting policies and programs into place that will change the state's perceptions of the health sector; as a result, it is necessary to give citizens access to comfortable healthcare facilities. Adamu Sambo also vowed not to take tardiness and absenteeism for granted.
The Commissioner emphasized that "the Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir government is committed to executing policies and programs that can shift the state health sector narrative to a worldwide standard, hence the requirement is to give suitable healthcare facilities to the residents. As a result, we won't accept tardiness and absence as givens.
Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, the District Head of Lame, pledged the administration of his entire support as a traditional leader and begged with it not to spare such individuals for the state's development in his speech.
Adding that he was unaware of such a questionable act occurring in his country, he pledged to form a committee to look into it and take whatever legal action was necessary against the offenders.
"We too will not accept that," the district head declared. "We will, insha'Allah, put up a commission to look into such a questionable act and deal with the culprits appropriately. Therefore, we endorse what you will do. Do what needs to be done. Sincerely, I am unaware of this tragic situation.
According to Ukasha Rabiu Magama, a freelance journalist located in Toro LGA, during the visit the Commissioner went to the construction site of the new general hospital granted in Gumau to evaluate the level of work done thus far and to examine areas that need modification.
