Tinubu's Cabinet Is Made Up Of Repurposed Old Hands Former Osun PDP Chair Akindele
Kunle Akindele, a former leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, referred to the recently appointed federal cabinet as a "recycling of old hands."
This was said in an interview with Vanguard by the special adviser to the governor of Osun State on health matters.
He asserted that the persons President Bola Tinubu picked are seasoned professionals who have lived in Nigeria for a number of decades.
Akindele pointed out that the President also chose a few former governors for his strategic ministeries without considering if they were qualified for such roles.
When asked what he thought of Tinubu's cabinet, the PDP leader responded, "I am very sure you would not agree with me that the cabinet parades the typical old faces. The members of the cabinet have been in Nigeria for some time and have served in a variety of positions, therefore there is nothing new in the cabinet.
"You have several former governors who were assigned important ministries without considering whether they were qualified for them. The choice of a former Rivers State governor as a minister in this administration, however, caught everyone by surprise. Perhaps it served as some sort of payback for the work he performed in attacking Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our presidential candidate, in the previous election.
I don't have high expectations for the cabinet because it essentially just recycles experienced professionals at the expense of a number of energetic, young Nigerian professionals who are strategically positioned around the globe.
