Bishop Akinfenwa: We Rather Want Nigeria To Be Ruled By Law Not Man.
The Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Most Revd. Joseph Olatunji Akinfenwa, has called upon stakeholders in the Nigerian judiciary to address the delays in court proceedings.
Speaking during the thanksgiving service marking the new legal year in Oyo State, he emphasized the need for a justice system governed by the rule of law rather than the rule of man.
He also pointed out the contrast between the Nigerian and American judiciaries, urging those responsible for justice to ensure timely resolution of cases.
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Oue, reiterated the government's commitment to upholding the rule of law.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the justice system in the past year but commended the resilience of the judicial family.
The governor emphasized the importance of supporting one another to ensure a fair and just society.
Additionally, Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima, highlighted the tradition of giving thanks to the Lord before commencing a new legal year.
She mentioned ongoing renovations of courts to international standards, creating a conducive environment for judges and efficient justice delivery.
