The British and United States governments have expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Nigerian Government in the development of the newly established Marine and Blue Economy ministry.
This collaboration aims to support Nigeria's economic growth through this sector.
Representatives from both countries conveyed this commitment during separate meetings with Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, at his office in Abuja.
The US delegation, led by Ambassador Jessye Lapenn, Senior Coordinator for Atlantic Cooperation, and the British delegation, led by British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, discussed their support for the ministry.
Ambassador Lapenn highlighted that Minister Oyetola was the first person she visited following the ministerial meeting for Atlantic Cooperation, convened by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
She emphasized the US government's readiness to provide technical support to the ministry to contribute to Nigeria's economic growth through the marine and blue economy sector.
