Each State Must Spend N1 Billion From The Palliative Fund On Bags Of Rice, Says Plateau Governor Mutfwang
A portion of President Bola Tinubu's N5 billion allocation for each state of the federation, according to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, is a loan.
The confirmation came from Governor Mutfwang on Monday when he stated that Plateau State has received N2 billion and that 52% of the palliative allocation was granted as opposed to 48% being a loan.
The governor added that each state was required to utilize N1 billion of the funds to purchase locally produced rice, adding that his state had purchased 3,000 bags and distributed them to all of the local government areas in the state.
To be clear, he said, "The Plateau State Government has received $2 billion, which includes a 52% grant component and a 48% loan component, as part of the 5 billion Naira Allocation for Palliative to various parts of the Country.
By the Grace of God, we shall act responsibly. "We will be looking at matters like upgrading the bursary of our students, procuring fertilizers at a discounted rate for our farmers, and all the other components we can look at within the constraint of the resources at our disposal.
