Fear: Kate Henshaw Asks FG To Abolish NYSC

Given the rising insecurity, veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has asked the Federal Government to cancel the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

It brings to mind the recent kidnapping of eight NYSC participants along a highway in Zamfara State.

Henshaw responded on Twitter on Wednesday, saying that the plan should be abandoned because the security of Corps members was no longer assured.

The actor implored the administration to "stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas."

"I served in the North, and it was a very memorable experience," she wrote. It was safe to drive to the airport from Bauchi and fly to Lagos using only my NYSC ID card, which also qualified me for a ticket discount.

"We need to end this now since corpers cannot freely travel within this country, this idea ought to be abandoned!

Stop putting young people's life in danger with outdated concepts. Security is a top priority that must be fully resolved, not only technically.
