Gov. Alia's Response To Justice Margaret Igbetar's Murder
The assassination of Justice Margaret Igbetar, a former president of the Customary Court of Appeal, by suspected assassins was criticized on Saturday by Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State.
Igbetar was found dead in her Makurdi home by her son on Thursday, according to theglobalnewsupdates, after being slain earlier in the week by assailants who have not yet been apprehended.
In a statement released in response, Alia expressed concern over the occurrence. Sir Tersoo Kula served as Alia's chief press secretary.
The governor questioned why a citizen who had made her fair share of contributions to the state's growth in numerous roles to guarantee the protection of everyone's rights and freedoms, particularly those of the most vulnerable members of society, would be brutally slain.
Fr. Alia, who added that the occurrence still shocks him, ordered the state's security services to act swiftly and make sure the offenders are captured and prosecuted.
He prayed for Justice Igbetar's soul to rest and said that her death was a big loss to her family, the legal system, the government, and all of humanity.
