In the title game on Sunday, Germany will compete against Serbia, while Team USA will compete against Canada for third place.
Germany (7-0) shot 57.7% from the field and 43.3% (13 of 30) from 3-point range, with Andreas Obst leading the way with 24 points to lead six other players in double digits.
As Germany made history by making it to the gold-medal game, Franz Wagner scored 22 points, Daniel Theis scored 21, and Dennis Schroder added 17 points and nine assists.
Team USA (5-2) was led by Anthony Edwards, who scored 23 points, and Austin Reaves, a reserve, who chipped in with 21.
Due to an upper respiratory infection, Brandon Ingram was unable to participate for the US team, which included NBA players.
In 2010 and 2014, the Americans won back-to-back gold medals, but in 2019, they were absent from the podium. Germany's previous best World Cup result was a bronze medal in 2002.
