Benue State Government's Commitment to Progress Highlighted By SSG
The Secretary to the Benue State Government, Prof. Joseph Shian Alakali, has reiterated the strong commitment of Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia to improving the lives of the people of the state.
In his message on the occasion of the 63rd independence anniversary, Prof. Alakali emphasized the significance of this year's celebration as it marks the first since Governor Alia's administration came into power.
Prof. Alakali highlighted several notable achievements of the government, showcasing its dedication to the welfare of Benue residents.
These achievements include the subsidy on fertilizer for Benue farmers, making it available at an affordable rate of N12,500, which is half the market price.
The government has also ensured the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities, with payments initiated on the 25th of every month.
Additionally, the administration has approved changes to the retirement age and length of service for primary and secondary school teachers, benefiting the education sector.
Efforts to clean up the state's payroll system have led to the identification of over 2,500 non-existent employees, resulting in significant cost savings.
The government is also investing in the training of 10,000 youths in ICT under the "Benue Go Digital" initiative.
Other accomplishments mentioned by Prof. Alakali include the recovery of looted assets, the announcement of improved allowances for NYSC members and doctors, implementation of the Revised Medical Training Fund (MRTF) 2023 for Resident Doctors, and infrastructure development, including the reconstruction of the Benue State House of Assembly Complex and the construction of 16 roads within the Makurdi metropolis.
Furthermore, the state government has ordered the purchase of 100 Hummer Buses for Benue Links Company and is covering the WAEC and NECO fees for Benue students.
Prof. Alakali concluded by praying for God's continued guidance and vision for the success of Governor Hyacinth Alia's administration, emphasizing the administration's commitment to the well-being of Benue's people.
