Breaking: Akpabio Denies There Is A Plan To Have Me Impeached.
Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has denied rumors that some senators planned to impeach him after they returned from their yearly holiday.
According to theglobalnewsupdates, there have been rumors of plots by certain resentful politicians who missed out on lucrative Senate Committees.
The reports added that two former governors from the North West are leading the plan to impeach the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West as Senate President.
However, Akpabio, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Honourable Eseme Eyiboh, described the reports as a “syndicated media attack from outside the precincts of the National Assembly.”
The statement reads in part, “Senators are presently concluding their holidays in their constituencies and other places they have chosen to spend their time after the rigours of the inauguration and ministerial screening.
It is really unkind to infer that senators are currently involved in other subversive activities against the institution while they are all taking a break before the session resumes. It is especially unkind to those Senators who at first opposed the establishment of the leadership but have now all agreed to support the Senator Akpabio-led administration.
"Continued use of thinly veiled innuendo to associate these Senators with one conspiracy or another is very nasty. We appeal to the media to resist believing the conspiratorial stories and, please, protect the reputations that they have worked so hard to establish.
