Former Chelsea Player Mikel Obi Ponder On His Career, Saying, "I Wish I'd Known."

Between 2006 and 2016, John Mikel made 372 appearances for Chelsea, winning every major award during his tenure with the West London side.

John Mikel Obi, a former Super Eagles player, admitted that there are some things he knows now that he wishes he had known when he was playing, according to theglobalnewsupdates.

The 36-year-old has had a fruitful career, having played for teams like Plateau United, Lyn Oslo, Chelsea Tianjin TEDA, Middlesbrough, Trabzonspor, Stoke City, and Kuwait SC both domestically and internationally.

Mikel was a member of the national team as well. He began playing for Nigeria at the U-17 level and rose through the ranks to become the captain of the Super Eagles, the senior national team, amassing 91 caps before quitting in 2019.

With 372 appearances over a ten-year period at Chelsea, where he won every major title with the London side before leaving in November 2016, he had his most successful stretch of his active years.

The Uefa Champions League final of 2012 was the 36-year-old's most famous performance for the Blues, where his brilliance and dynamism led the team to its first victory.

But last Saturday at the Stamford Bridge, Mikel made a comeback alongside 2012 heroes like John Terry, Gary Cahill, Michael Essien, Ramires, Florent Malouda, and Salomon Kalou to play for Chelsea Legends against Bayern Munich Legends in a game in memory of former Chelsea striker Gianluca Vialli.

Chelsea dominated the contest. Essien scored a beautiful header to start the scoring, and the home team went on to win 4-0 thanks to goals from John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Tiago Mendes.

The former Nigerian midfielder admitted that there are some things he understands now and wishes he had known earlier during his playing days after turning in a remarkable performance in the Legends of Europe tournament.

Mikel stopped playing about a year ago, yet he has maintained his exceptional fitness. He was able to participate throughout the majority of Saturday's game at the Bridge and appeared to be just a day older than when he last wore a blue shirt in 2016.

I certainly seem younger now. During a talk, Mikel stated, according to a website.

I try to take care of myself by eating well and exercising properly. I wish I had known half of what I know now when I was still playing because I believe it would have improved both my career and game significantly. I now have a better understanding of who I am, who I am, and what motivates me. Hey, it's all a part of life.

Mikel was a member of the Nigerian team that won the 2013 AFCON trophy and the bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
