Former Deputy Governor Of Kogi Awoniyi Formally Joins The APC
Yomi Awoniyi, a former deputy governor of Kogi State, has formally joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the governorship election in Kogi State on November 11.
Last Monday, Awoniyi submitted his letter of resignation to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Awoniyi was formally welcomed into the APC on Tuesday in Abuja at the party's national headquarters.
The former deputy governor of Kogi State acknowledged the difficulties and intricacies of Kogi State politics in a statement made immediately after announcing his new political endeavor.
He praised Governor Bello for successfully uniting Kogi State despite all challenges.
"I was Kogi State's deputy governor from 2011 to 2015," he claimed. I am extremely familiar with the state, and I can confirm that the present governor has performed admirably in terms of leadership and sound governance. His humility is unsurpassed, and he has a unique talent for bringing people together.
From 2011 to 2015, Awoniyi was the deputy governor of Kogi State under Captain Idris Wada's leadership.
Awoniyi was welcomed by Governor Yahaya Bello, who called him a "big fish" and noted the importance of his choice to join the APC.
