House Of Representatives Expresses Firm Commitment To Nigeria's Unity And Progress

In an unequivocal statement, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services, Mr. Dennis Idahosa, has affirmed the dedication of the 10th Assembly, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abass, to the unity and growth of Nigeria.

Idahosa, representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State, conveyed this resolute stance in a message congratulating the speaker on his 60th birthday. 

He highlighted Abass's unwavering efforts towards the country's advancement.

Idahosa pointed out that Speaker Abass had effectively united lawmakers, regardless of party affiliations, with a shared commitment to good governance. 

He emphasized that it was not a mere coincidence that the speaker's birthday coincided with that of the nation.

The representative disclosed that his interactions with the speaker consistently revealed a burning passion for a better Nigeria whenever national matters were discussed. 

Abass, upon assuming the role of Speaker, had established mechanisms to foster a close working relationship between the executive and the legislature, all while safeguarding the independence of the latter.


Idahosa underscored that all these actions were geared towards the growth and development of the country. 

He praised the Speaker's patriotism and urged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate his dedication to national unity and progress.


The statement also mentioned the Speaker's decision to create additional House committees, reducing the size of some existing ones to enhance oversight efficiency. 

This move was motivated by the Speaker's commitment to effective supervision of agencies and other executive oversight functions.

In conclusion, Idahosa called on Nigerians to maintain hope despite current economic challenges and to support President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda for the nation's prosperity, emphasizing that a greater Nigeria would emerge from the present difficulties.

  An Owerri magestarate court, last week, Friday, remanded "Fr. Mario Justus Chinonso Alozie" in  custody over allegations of homosexuality, but the case was adjourned to Wednesday, February 5,2025 , for consideration of his bail. "Fr.Mario"was arraigned before the magistrate presided by His Worship Doris Chukwuezi Ahanonu, on charges of -unnatural offence, contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code; indecent treatment of boys under fourteen, contrary to section 216 of the Criminal Code and unlawful sexual interaction with a child, contrary to section 31, Child Rights Act,all related to homosexuality.
