NFF And Peseiro Concur On Contract Extension

Official confirmation of the Super Eagles coach Jose Santos Peseiro's contract extension has come from the Nigeria Football Federation.

The NFF announced on Sunday that it has achieved an arrangement with Peseiro to allow him to stay in his position as Head Coach of the Senior Men National Team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, after several days of uncertainty and name-dropping.

"The Portuguese has been given the mandate to lead the Super Eagles to, at the very least, the semi-finals of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations finals taking place in Cote d'Ivoire in a few months," according to the original contract, which was set up in May 2022. Part of the NFF statement from Sunday was read.

With one game remaining, Peseiro guided the Super Eagles through the qualifying rounds and into the World Cup, including a 10-0 record victory over Sao Tome and Principe in Agadir, Morocco, in June 2022.

According to the NFF, the coach has decided to stay in the position despite taking a pay cut under his previous contract. As part of the new arrangement, he will also be in command of the Super Eagles B, the home-based athletes who compete in the twice-yearly African Nations Championship.
