The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Federal Government until today to decide on the impact of eliminating gasoline subsidies on Nigerians.
The union's leadership is set to convene next week to decide when to start an ongoing nationwide strike.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is preparing a package, including wage awards, to be delivered to the NLC leadership.
The NLC gave the government a 21-day deadline to address widespread suffering and poverty. If the government fails to comply, it threatens an indefinite strike.
The NLC organs will meet next week to decide on the terms of an indefinite strike if the federal government fails to take action. The government team is actively attempting to prevent another wave of NLC industrial disturbance.
The vice president and finance minister are evaluating numbers and are aware of the gravity of the planned action. The administration will soon make its plans public.
