Osinbajo's Aide: INEC Betrayed Nigerians' Confidence.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to electronically submit the results of the 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections, according to Laolu Akande, media adviser to former vice president of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo. This, he claims, has damaged Nigerians' confidence in the INEC.
During a question-and-answer session on Friday's episode of "Politics Today" on Channels Television, Akande made this statement.
Inability to post polling unit results to their Result Viewing Portal, according to Akande, was an INEC failure.
"It's critical to establish something we can't really avoid. This election left INEC with a shattered reputation.
"There is no question in my mind. The INEC instituted a standard. The rules were established by INEC. INEC promised the Nigerian people that this is how we would announce the outcome of this election.
The chairman of INEC really traveled abroad and declared, "What we are going to do is that we will put these results, when we get them, on IReV in real-time," Akande added.
After the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) validated the election of President Bola Tinubu, Akande made his remarks.
The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which is the only technology requirement specified for use by the INEC during elections, was determined by the panel headed by Justice Haruna Tsammani.
