As the 2023 governorship election draws near, all eyes are on the Labour Party. 

The party is looking to defy the odds and permutations, in order to  make its mark in the political landscape.

As the election campaign gains momentum, the Labour Party is embarking on a unique strategy. 

Instead of following the traditional playbook, they are focusing on grassroots mobilization and community engagement. 

This unconventional approach aims to connect with the people on a personal level, in stark contrast to the more traditional campaign methods employed by other parties.

Furthermore, the party's candidate, Athan Achonu,  brings a fresh perspective to the table. 

With a background in human development, he is positioning himself as the candidate of the people. 

Achonu's  emphasis on good governance and accountability is resonating with many Imo state residents, who are tired of the usual political rhetoric.

However, challenges loom on the horizon. 

The Labour Party faces tough competition from established political heavyweights in the state. 

Nonetheless, the party's determination to challenge the status quo is evident.

Alleged Homosexuality:"Fr Mario Remanded In Correctional Center.

  An Owerri magestarate court, last week, Friday, remanded "Fr. Mario Justus Chinonso Alozie" in  custody over allegations of homosexuality, but the case was adjourned to Wednesday, February 5,2025 , for consideration of his bail. "Fr.Mario"was arraigned before the magistrate presided by His Worship Doris Chukwuezi Ahanonu, on charges of -unnatural offence, contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code; indecent treatment of boys under fourteen, contrary to section 216 of the Criminal Code and unlawful sexual interaction with a child, contrary to section 31, Child Rights Act,all related to homosexuality. However, the court ruled that  it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody until the issue of considering his bail is resolved.   Indigenes of Umuihugba/Umuodu in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area of Imo State have formerly handed over a Site Project to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the installation of 229 Solar Powered Streetlights in the community. The Solar Powered Streetlights project was attracted by the APC candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2023 election, Hon. CDB Williams.  The contracting firm handling the project is Cascade Engineering Systems Limited based in Port-Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
