Ajadi Congratulates Kano NNPP HoR Member Zakari On The Victory At The Appeals Court
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has made a significant ruling regarding the election of Umar Mukhtari Zakari of the NNPP for Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano State.
The court set aside the earlier judgment by the National and State Houses of Assembly Tribunal that had voided Zakari's election.
In its judgment, the Court of Appeal upheld the arguments presented by Zakari's lawyer, Mahmud Magaji (SAN), stating that the tribunal had made a legal error in reaching its decision.
The tribunal had alleged that Zakari forged his credentials, specifically a Housawa Special Primary School certificate, which he had presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to discrepancies in the name.
However, the Court of Appeal ruled that the petitioners failed to substantiate their claim of forgery and that they couldn't prove that Zakari was not the same person who attended the school and was awarded the certificate.
As a result, the court set aside the tribunal's judgment and affirmed Zakari's election.
This decision was welcomed by Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, who viewed it as a restoration of the people's will and emphasized the importance of the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
He congratulated Zakari and urged him to contribute to Nigeria's constitutional development and provide effective representation for the people of Tarauni.
Additionally, Ajadi expressed confidence that the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, would also have his mandate restored at the Court of Appeal.
He criticized the judgment of the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal, stating that it was a miscarriage of justice and emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the people.
Ambassador Ajadi showed his support for the NNPP party and its presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, highlighting Kwakwanso's leadership and maturity in managing the affairs of the party.
