Barclays Women's Championship: Crystal Palace Hit Six Goals.

 


In the Barclays Women's Championship, the top three teams all secured victories, and there were some standout performances in the latest matches:

1. Southampton maintained their top spot on goal difference with a 2-1 win over Durham. 

Rianna Dean opened the scoring for Southampton, and although Durham equalized before half-time, Dean restored the lead before the break.

2. Second-placed Sunderland defeated Reading 3-1. 

Ellen Jones broke the deadlock, Liz Ejupi doubled the lead, and Katie Kitching led a counter-attack to make it 3-0. Reading managed to pull one goal back through Freya Gregory.

3. Crystal Palace delivered an impressive 6-1 victory over London City Lionesses, with Annabel Blanchard scoring a 15-minute hat-trick. 

Molly Sharpe put Palace ahead, but London City Lionesses quickly responded with an own goal. 

Shanade Hopcroft fired in Palace's second before Blanchard's scoring spree in the second half, which included a penalty.

4. Charlton Athletic moved into fourth place on goal difference by defeating Blackburn Rovers 1-0. 

Kayleigh Green converted a penalty early in the second half to secure the win.

5. Birmingham City scored all four goals against Sheffield United, moving ahead of their hosts into seventh place. 

Gemma Lawley opened the scoring, followed by goals from Martha Harris, Lucy Quinn, and Remi Allen.

6. Lewes claimed their first win of the season, drawing level on points with Watford. Caragh Hamilton, Bianca Baptiste, and Grace Riglar were among the goal scorers in this competitive match.

These matches in the Women's Championship showcase the excitement and competition within the league.
