Certificate Saga: Obi Didn't Pretend To Be His Deceased Brother- Spokesman
The Chief Spokesman for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Yunusa Tanko, has refuted speculations that Peter Obi, the campaign's flag bearer, is carrying his late brother's University of Nigeria academic certificate.
This comes in response to allegations made by the Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party, claiming discrepancies in Obi's academic qualifications.
Arabambi, the Spokesman of the Labour Party faction, raised these concerns during an interview on AIT News.
The controversy arose amid questions about President Bola Tinubu's Chicago State University certificate, with Obi and Atiku Abubakar challenging the President's credentials.
Arabambi pointed out alleged inconsistencies in Obi's academic certificates, particularly the difference in the name on his University of Nigeria certificate and that of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
However, in response to these allegations, Tanko criticized Arabambi and the faction he represents, describing them as expelled members of the party who are not acting in its best interests.
Tanko clarified that Obi could not be using his late brother's UNN certificate, as both studied different courses.
Tanko expressed frustration with the faction's efforts to tarnish Obi's reputation and called them "political hirelings and buccaneers" engaged in character assassination.
He pointed out that both Arabambi and Apapa are no longer with the leadership of the Labour Party, and they have been more critical of Obi than supportive, despite using the party's name.
Tanko suggested that media houses should take action against such individuals for misrepresenting themselves and attacking Obi, despite being associated with the party.
He emphasized that Obi is one of the most popular and loved Nigerian politicians and called for fairness in media coverage.
