News: Wike Approves Attorney Daudu's Appointment
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has appointed Barrister Benedict Daudu as his Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation.
The FCTA (Federal Capital Territory Administration) made this announcement in a tweet, noting that the appointment recognizes Daudu's legal expertise and was made in line with the former two-term governor of Rivers State.
Barrister Benedict Daudu is described as a distinguished and practicing attorney in Nigeria with extensive academic background and a deep understanding of key policy issues.
The FCT Administration commended his wealth of experience and knowledge in his new role.
It's worth noting that Nyesom Wike's appointment as a minister in the administration of President Bola Tinubu has been the subject of controversy, as he is a prominent leader in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike's involvement in supporting President Tinubu during the February 25 presidential election, against his party's candidate Atiku Abubakar, added to the political intrigue.
The appointment also reflects past disagreements within the PDP, particularly regarding the selection of the party's national chairman, with Wike and other governors advocating for a southern bloc chairman, which was not ultimately realized.
