Provisional Wage Increment Announced By President Bola Tinubu

In a move to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal, President Bola Tinubu has approved a provisional wage increment for workers in Nigeria. 

President Tinubu made this announcement during his address to the nation on the occasion of Nigeria's 63rd Independence Anniversary in Abuja.

He stated that the provisional wage increment aims to enhance the federal minimum wage without causing undue inflation. 

As part of this initiative, low-grade workers will receive an additional N25,000 per month for the next six months.

President Tinubu emphasized the government's commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians, acknowledging that various measures have been taken by all levels of government to mitigate these challenges. 

He also mentioned ongoing public sector reforms, efforts to stabilize the economy, and policies aimed at fighting inflation, promoting production, ensuring security, and providing support to the poor and vulnerable.

This wage increment announcement is part of the government's broader strategy to address economic challenges and support its citizens during a critical period.

Alleged Homosexuality:"Fr Mario Remanded In Correctional Center.

  An Owerri magestarate court, last week, Friday, remanded "Fr. Mario Justus Chinonso Alozie" in  custody over allegations of homosexuality, but the case was adjourned to Wednesday, February 5,2025 , for consideration of his bail. "Fr.Mario"was arraigned before the magistrate presided by His Worship Doris Chukwuezi Ahanonu, on charges of -unnatural offence, contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code; indecent treatment of boys under fourteen, contrary to section 216 of the Criminal Code and unlawful sexual interaction with a child, contrary to section 31, Child Rights Act,all related to homosexuality. However, the court ruled that  it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody until the issue of considering his bail is resolved.   Indigenes of Umuihugba/Umuodu in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area of Imo State have formerly handed over a Site Project to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the installation of 229 Solar Powered Streetlights in the community. The Solar Powered Streetlights project was attracted by the APC candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2023 election, Hon.
