The Prime Minister Of Ivory Coast Is Fired By The President, And Also Dissolves The Cabinet.
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has made a significant move by dismissing Prime Minister Patrick Achi and dissolving the government.
This comes as part of a broader reshuffling in the nation.
Since 2020, Ivory Coast has witnessed three different prime ministers, illustrating a period of transition and change.
Achi took over from Hamed Bakayoko, who sadly passed away from cancer in March 2021.
Bakayoko's predecessor also passed away while in office due to illness.
The presidency’s secretary-general, Abdourahmane Cissé, conveyed the president's appreciation for the dedication and service of Prime Minister Patrick Achi and the entire government.
The outgoing officials will continue their duties until a new government is established later this month.
This move follows Ouattara's earlier announcement in September regarding a ministerial reshuffle, which is set to occur after the Ivorian Senate convenes and elects its new president.
Achi has been serving as prime minister since April 2022, having first been appointed in March 2021 and briefly resigning in April of the same year in response to Ouattara's plans to reduce the Cabinet's size.
