US Actress Piper Laurie Passed Away At 91.

In a unique tribute to the late Piper Laurie, the renowned US actress celebrated for her iconic roles in "The Hustler" and "Carrie," her manager Marion Rosenberg confirmed her passing at the age of 91 in her Los Angeles residence. 

Describing Laurie as "a superb talent and a wonderful human being," Rosenberg paid a fitting tribute to the actress's legacy.

Piper Laurie's contributions extended beyond her acting career. 

She took a 15-year hiatus from the industry to actively support the civil rights movement. 

Upon her return, she earned an Oscar nomination for her role in the movie "Carrie," marking a powerful comeback.

Born as Rosetta Jacobs in Detroit, Michigan, Laurie's heritage was a blend of Russian and Polish ancestry. 

At the age of 17, she was signed by Universal Studios, which led to a transformative journey in both her career and personal identity.

Yet, Laurie faced the challenge of being typecast and grew disenchanted with the industry's constraints. 

In a bold move, she broke her Hollywood contract and relocated to New York, seeking more diverse roles.

During her 15-year hiatus from acting, she devoted herself to causes close to her heart, actively participating in the civil rights movement and advocating against the Vietnam War. 

This period also saw her build a family, as she married film critic Joe Morgenstern and welcomed a daughter.

Laurie's remarkable career also extended to television, where she left an indelible mark with roles in popular shows like "Matlock," "Murder She Wrote," and notably, as George Clooney's character's mother on "ER."

Her versatile talent and dedication to social causes leave a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.

Alleged Homosexuality:"Fr Mario Remanded In Correctional Center.

  An Owerri magestarate court, last week, Friday, remanded "Fr. Mario Justus Chinonso Alozie" in  custody over allegations of homosexuality, but the case was adjourned to Wednesday, February 5,2025 , for consideration of his bail. "Fr.Mario"was arraigned before the magistrate presided by His Worship Doris Chukwuezi Ahanonu, on charges of -unnatural offence, contrary to section 214 of the Criminal Code; indecent treatment of boys under fourteen, contrary to section 216 of the Criminal Code and unlawful sexual interaction with a child, contrary to section 31, Child Rights Act,all related to homosexuality. However, the court ruled that  it lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody until the issue of considering his bail is resolved.   Indigenes of Umuihugba/Umuodu in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area of Imo State have formerly handed over a Site Project to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the installation of 229 Solar Powered Streetlights in the community.
