WSWA: Alma Okpalefe Appointed To Serve As Executive Director
Alma Okpalefe has been appointed as the Executive Director of the World Space Week Association (WSWA) on the occasion of World Space Week 2023.
She brings 17 years of experience from her previous role at the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT), where she was responsible for corporate strategy, international relations, and legal services within the Nigerian satellite company
Ms. Okpalefe will be succeeding Maruksa Strah, who served as the Association's Executive Director for five years.
Speaking about her appointment, she expressed deep honor and enthusiasm for leading WSWA's efforts to strengthen the connections between space and society through World Space Week.
The WSWA has also introduced new members to its leadership team, including Carlo Mirra, who previously served at Airbus and NASA as a Board of Director, Catherine Doldirina, Legal Counsel of D-Orbit, and Stan Crow.
Carlo Mirra will serve as the Chair of the board.
These appointments reflect the association's commitment to fostering collaboration within the global space community.
WSWA plays a pivotal role as the global coordinator of World Space Week, an annual celebration of space declared by the United Nations, featuring numerous space-related public and student events in about 90 nations.
